Who Are We?

The North East & Yorkshire Peer Leaders have lived experience in health and social care and work to influence positive change, enabling healthcare professionals to better meet the public’s needs in a more effective and personalised way.

What is a Peer Leader?

The NHS Long Term Plan committed to developing 500 Peer Leaders, all individuals with lived experience of the health and social care system. They’re trained through the NHS Peer Leadership Development Programme to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to work alongside professionals and improve systems and services for everyone. They’re committed approach to working collaboratively to shape and influence how health and care is delivered is fundamental to the work of the Coalition for Personalised Care, ensuring co-production is embedded across the NHS.
